Description: Fun freehand floral designs are versatile and can be used as an all-over design or set more formally in borders and feature blocks. Students will learn 2 flowing floral designs and apply it in a border and block. Set-out points and marking will be discussed. The florals will be backfilled with wonderful grid based designs using stencils as a starting point. Another skill that adds versatility and interest to a quilt. One student per longarm frame machine will allow for maximum stitching time during this compact 3 hour class with achievable results and a class sample to take home.

Description: The use of stencils in freemotion quilting is underrated and such a helpful tool that can take the guesswork out of blank open spaces. Stencil can be used for allover designs, feature designs and borders. Student will learn to use the mighty pounce pad as an effective and time saving marking tool. A stencil design will be used as a feature design and also corner stones in a border.
Piano Keys are the ultimate complimentary design against any organic feature designs. Students will learn why Piano Keys are effective to resolve fabric fullness, how to quilt it using a ruler with guide markings to keep the angle of line straight, combination of design possibilities and best machine settings required. One student per longarm frame machine will allow for maximum stitching time during this compact 3 hour class with achievable results and a class sample to take home.

Description: In this 6h Workshop, students will learn how to sew inset circles and oval shapes with their sewing machine! All shapes are sewn in and not appliquéd, everything is sewn by machine, no hand sewing. Lisa Hofmann-Maurer will show you different ways to use her technique by overlapping shapes or setting a circular shape into another. Students will learn how to inset any round shapes and are able to use this skill in their futur quilt designs. With the knowledge from this class, you will be able to sew almost any shape in a quilt design without fear.

Description: In this workshop you will learn how to make your own beautiful Kawandi using Kaffe Fassett’s gorgeous fabrics. Kawandi are traditional quilts of the Siddi community of India, which are typically made from sari scraps patched together from the outside in. This technique is very organic and relaxing, and gives the finished quilt lots of texture. Unlike traditional quilts, Kawandi are pieced and quilted at the same time making this technique perfect for a beginner quilter or for a project ‘on the go’.

Description: To create a fusion quilt, individual quilt blocks are crocheted together using just three basic crochet stitches. The pattern includes the instructions and crochet pattern, a template for marking your blanket stitching, and a full-page colored diagram showing how to put it all together. In the class we will make a 4 block table mat to practice crocheting around the individual blocks and then connecting them all together.
